BEWARE - Power Strips are NOT Surge Protectors

 Most power strips are only extension cords and DO NOT provide surge protection.  They are often confused with surge protection but only take a single wall outlet and turn it into a hub for devices, providing 2 or 3 extra electrical sockets.

 Always buy surge protectors that limit damaging current and voltage that could destroy smaller appliances, entertainment center, phones, or other sensitive electronics.  They meet UL 1449 standards for surge protection and can also serve to provide a hub to connect multiple devices 

Look for surge protectors that come with a lifetime insurance for all connected electronics and  for the device itself. LIFE time guarantees you the piece of mind and insurance against costly failures caused by surges.

SPDs are essential to prevent high current or voltage spikes and surges from  damaging current and voltage from entering your appliances, entertainment center, phones, or other sensitive electronics.  

SPDs that are designed with COAX cable connections are essential to prevent these surges from damaging your entertainment center by way of the cable or dish antenna inputs

Electronics must be protected from inside the home and because each member’s needs will be a little different, it is the member’s responsibility to purchase “point-of-use” devices.  All sensitive electronics must be plugged into these devices for maximum protection. These point-of-use devices can be purchased at local home improvement or hardware stores.
